Xylem wins prestigious sustainability award in Colombia

RYE BROOK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 2013-- Xylem Inc. (NYSE:XYL), a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, has been named the winner of the medium business category in the El Espectador Sustainable Awards sponsored by BBVA Bank Colombia. More than 1,800 companies entered the competition, which recognizes companies that implement policies of social responsibility, sustainability and high entrepreneurial standards as part of their daily business operations.

Xylem was selected for making key contributions in the construction of energy efficient water treatment plants serving Colombia’s Atlantic coast citizens in Casanare, Cundinamarca, Antioquia and Santander. Xylem has been operating in Colombia since 2006 and plays a major role in the delivery of sustainable water and wastewater transport and treatment solutions in the country.
