Xylem opens new sales office in Vietnam

June 13, 2012

HANOI, Vietnam--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 13, 2012-- Xylem Inc. (NYSE: XYL), a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, today announced that it has opened a new office in Hanoi, Vietnam to promote and market its technologies and solutions, and support the growth of its business in Southeast Asia. Xylem’s expanded presence in the country is part of the company’s long-term strategy to grow business within high-potential emerging markets like Vietnam.

The team in Hanoi will focus on growing local business opportunities, particularly in the water and wastewater treatment, wastewater transport, irrigation, flood control and mining industries. The new base will also implement professional development training programs for employees in order to maximize business opportunities in the region. Xylem will continue to sell through its distribution partners in Vietnam, as it has since 2004.

“We believe that a significant opportunity exists to grow our business within Vietnam,” said Andy Rumary, managing director of Xylem Water Solutions Hong Kong. “Our new base will enable us to work more closely with our locally based distributors and partners in order to grow market share and develop sales and aftermarket services opportunities for the business.

“In particular, we plan on expanding within the mining market; Vietnam holds the world’s third largest bauxite ore reserves as well as significant coal reserves that supply the southern Chinese market. As part of this, we will expand our Flygt® and Godwin® dewatering business for the mining and water pumping markets. Xylem’s Flygt and Leopold® brands are already well known within the country – through our new presence we will introduce the portfolio of Xylem’s other market-leading brands to Vietnam,” Rumary said.
